The dog is purebred and the pedigree is correct.  The dog is eligible for “Full Registration” with the AKC.  This mean that progeny produced by this dog ARE eligible for registration with the AKC and that this dog can be entered in AKC confirmation shows as well as compete in obedience trails.   All dogs sold with Full AKC registration must be registered with the breeder’s kennel name (Mcknight’s) preceding the puppy’s name.

The health of this animal is guaranteed against any preventable life-threatening disease for 5 business days after delivery to the buyer provided the animal is examined during that time by a licensed veterinarian at the expense of the buyer.  If the dog is found to have a preventable life-threatening disease and written documentation of the condition is presented, the seller has the option, provided the dog and its registration papers are returned within 3 business days after diagnosis, to either:

a)replace the dog with the next available like prospect or mutually agreeable animal or
b)refund 100% of the purchase price, excluding any shipping charges.

This animal is guaranteed to be free of hereditary crippling defects visible by 6 months of age.  Determination of what constitutes a hereditary defect is to be by the unanimous agreement of two (2) veterinarians agreeable to both parties.  Costs of the opinions are to be assumed by the buyer.  If the dog is found to have any hereditary crippling defect, the seller has the option, provided the living dog and its registration papers are returned to the seller, to either:

              *  Umbilical hernias and pinches nostrils are very common among
the Shih Tzu breed and are not a genetic hereditary or life
threatening condition, therefore are not bound by this contract.
Shih Tzu puppies commonly snore, snort, sniffle or bubble.
these symptoms are of no cause for concern if the nasal
discharge is clear and the pup seems happy.  When a puppy
is teething these symptoms may increase.  Slightly pinched
nostrils are very common in this breed and normally correct
themselves as the pup matures.  Open fontanelles (soft spots
in the skull) are also relatively common.

*********

Adult sizes and colors are an estimate only, based on the seller’s experience.  Since a puppy’s color and size can change drastically until 18 months of age, there are absolutely NO size or color guarantees made.

**********

Buyer agrees to provide annual veterinary checkups, keeping all immunizations current according to AVMA guidelines; to keep this dog in the home and when taking outside to have the dog on a leash.  The dog is never to be turned loose outside unless in a fenced yard or kennel run.  The dog is never to be chained or roped but is to be able to run freely in the fenced yard or run.

Buyer must also take the dog to initial 5 day exam or contract is null and void.

BREEDING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under NO circumstance is this bitch to be bred prior to 18 months of age or third heat cycle whichever comes first.
Bitches can be bred after 3rd heat cycle 5 times back to back.  After the 5th breeding, bitch must be spayed.  If you prefer skipping cycles then breed twice skipping once.  According to our reproductive vet specialist skipping cycles causes scar tissue and its better to breed back to back and then spay.  If buyer is a breeder, then they can place in a pet home after confirmed with original breeder and pet is spayed/neutered prior to being placed in their forever home.  The buyer must also abide by the limited AKC contract of McKnights Majestic Shih-tzus.

If Buyer is unable to keep the dog then the dog is to come back to us at no compensation to the buyer.  Under no circumstance is this dog to be sold, donated or given away to a Pet Store, Laboratory, Research Facility, or Animal Shelter.  Again dog is to come back to the breeder Melinda Little and/or Geraldine Watson.  Failure to comply with this will result in legal action.

Venue and jurisdiction for litigation arising out of or related to this contract shall lie exclusively in Iredell County, North Carolina at the expense of the buyer.
